In 1986 Marcelino Díaz Gonzalez, a pioneer in the production of cava in Extremadura, managed to include the term Almendralejo in the DO Calificada "Cava".

The Marcelino Díaz Winery produces cavas of great prestige at a national and international level.

Currently the winery is managed by Carmina Vázquez Arroyo, who continues with the production of great wines and cavas under the advice of Marcelino Díaz and the collaboration of his children.

The winery not only has its own vineyards, but also has an excellent park of American oak barrels where the wines remain at a temperature below 18ºC.
