A dream come true, BARÓN DE LEY is a winery which was devised and founded in 1985 by a small group of prestigious Rioja professionals which decided to create a project which was unique at that time in the Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja: a winery modelled on the Médoc châteaux, bringing together all the conditions that make a wine a work of art.
The Baron de Ley winery was founded in 1985 by prestigious professionals of the area looking for the great châteaux resemblance to Medoc wines to bring the winery to a unique quality in Spain. To do this, they bought the farm Imas, an ideal place for growing vines (extending over 90 hectares) due to climate and soil. Surrounded by a sixteenth-century monastery, the winery is in harmony with the same monastery and using more techniques at the forefront. Raising the wines of Baron de Ley it is done in oak barrels Bordeaux, traditional to produce top quality wines in Rioja appellation of origin. The winery has available 12,000 new American oak barrels, and 2,000 new French oak.
