Tasting Notes:
Color is bright ruby red with some garnet hues.
Nose: intense aromas defruit in season perfectly linked to the wood, without it not dominating. When opened, elegant balsamic notes, undergrowth, humus, wet soil, pine, rosemary, ripe red fruits and fig bread accompanied by fine smoked and cedar notes from oak barrels appear.
Palate: fine, with sweet and grainy tannins. The wine is fresh and acidic, which will help you to live and compensate, the alcohol content is very long and unctuous.
Elaboration and Aging:
Estrecho is a 100% Monastrell wine, made from a single vineyard located in the "Estrecho de Pipa" area of Villena, 700 metres above sea level and with unique soil characteristics. The vineyard is on fine sandy soil, poor in organic matter. Aged for 15 months in French oak barrels.
Curiosities:
The vineyard lives on fine sands poor in organic matter but which allow the plant to reach polyphenolic maturity perfectly without exhaustion or stress. It is a traditional vineyard with 1500 plants per hectare in a glass and without any irrigation support, the fertilizer is composted from organic sheep fermented by themselves. It is a viticulture in which they work with the concept of zero residues, which means that they have never received herbicides or systemic and of course no insecticides, they only work with sulphur in dust, copper, biological control such as "bacilus turugensis" for the moth and a lot of awareness.
Our own vineyards, water control, the best viticulture techniques and the best grapes are the foundations for obtaining "the best wine", as Enrique Mendoza says. And when you have been able to achieve all of the above, it is then a question of applying the most refined technique to mark the path of the wine, by means of an exhaustive control of the plant, following scientific parameters supported by dendometry (to measure the hydric stress of the plants) and precision viticulture. In this way we produce very natural and well cared for grapes, without herbicides or insecticides, fed with compost. Conservation is done in selected woods from the best forests of Nevers, Allier, White American Missouri, White American Oregon, Limousin, Chechen or Russian.
