Parada de Atauta 2013 is a red wine produced by the Bodegas Dominio de Atauta winery in the Ribera del Duero wine region with 100% Tinto Fino grapes. This wine is true to its origins in the most rugged area of Ribera del Duero, more than a thousand metres above sea level. It is gentle and conciliatory on the palate, elegant without renouncing the grace and the boldness of its freshness.
A vineyard of up to 100 years old and high altitude (950-1000m), grapes dried by a constant wind, without excess of rain, with storms in summer and very cold in winter, up to 25ºC variation in the day: all this gives Parada de Atauta a great personality and aromatic range. It enjoys a cool climate which makes the wine more fruity.
Tasting notes:
Bigarreau cherry colour. Aromas of red and black fruits on the nose, with balsamic notes. In the mouth it is fresh and fleshy at the same time, with a good concentration of ripe red and black fruit, all accompanied by soft tannins. Good balance, silky and mineral and fresh finish.
Winemaking and ageing:
This wine wants to show the concentration and complexity of the grapes and vineyards of the area while remaining a friendly, affordable and understandable wine for everyone. The wine is made from a selection of very old vineyards located around the Atauta Valley, mainly on sandy and pebbly soils.
Made with 100% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) grapes from old vines between 80 and 100 years old and located at 900 metres above sea level. Ageing is 12 months in 225 litre French oak barrels (50% new).
