CURIOSITIES
Gaja is the winery that produces this and other excellent Italian reds. The Gaja family settled in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy in the mid-17th century.
Angelo Gaja is one of the most well-known wine producers in the world. Angelo implemented revolutionary changes in Piedmont and his quality criteria are really strict.
Among its changes are the limitation of the pruning of its vineyards to 8 buds per vine and the abandonment of the assemblage of different vintages, producing only millésimés. If the year isn't good, it's not bottled.
